Improving Access to Quality Health Services through Community Engagement in Tribal Districts of Rajasthan

Project Background

Project brief

Rajasthan faces significant healthcare challenges as evidenced by its low ranking in the ‘Healthy States, Progressive India’ report. Placed 16th among 19 major states, the state shows deteriorating health indicators including neonatal and maternal mortality rates, tuberculosis treatment success, institutional deliveries, and immunisation coverage. Despite health schemes like the Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya Yojana, issues such as illiteracy, lack of awareness, inadequate facilities, and implementation challenges in tribal areas hinder effective healthcare access. These factors collectively impede access to healthcare services and exacerbate health disparities among vulnerable populations.

This project aims to ensure that citizens in the tribal districts of Banswara and Pratapgarh in Rajasthan have unimpeded access to quality healthcare services with trust and transparency between patients and healthcare providers. This will be achieved through community engagement, sensitization of healthcare providers, and advocacy efforts aimed at reducing health disparities, particularly among marginalised communities, increasing awareness of health entitlements, and promoting ethical healthcare practices.
