Haryana government will set up a toll-free state consumer helpline soon on the pattern of National Consumer Helpline to make consumers aware of their rights and to redress their grievances promptly.
The consumer advice center will also be set up in each district of the state, Deputy Director, Haryana Food and Supplies Department, N K Mittal said today.
He said the toll-free helpline will be set up at the headquarters of Haryana Food and Supplies Department in Chandigarh.
Trained staff of this helpline would not only guide the consumers properly for redressal of their grievances but also educate them about their rights, he said.
He said a similar toll-free helpline of the central government was already operational in Delhi University, which was catering to the need of a large number of consumers.
Mittal said Consumer Advice Centers, which were in the final stages of implementation, will give thrust to the consumer awareness campaign of the state government.
