New Consumer network launched

Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Civil Supplies Babu Lal Nagar asked that a proposal be forwarded on creation of a consumer welfare fund and ‘state helpline’ for consumers.

He also shared the success of ‘Shudh ke liye yudh’ in Rajasthan.

Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Civil Supplies, Secretary Rajiv Agarwal said, ‘Public awareness is the key to ensure consumer protection. There are various measures to ensure awareness, but unfortunately it is not reaching the grassroots.’

Agarwal was addressing after launching a project titled Grassroots Reachout and Networking in Rajasthan through Consumer Action (GRANIRCA).

The project, which will be implemented in 12 districts, is to reach out to rural massess make them aware about the Consumer Protection Act and consumer rights.

Consumer Unity and Trust Society (CUTS), has partenered parterning with department of Consumer Affirs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India has launched this scheme.

Rajasthan State Consumer Redressal Commissioner Chairman Justice Sunil Kumar Garg also attended.
